You Can Teach Old Dogs New Tricks

It was painful...not really. How I love to exaggerate. It was just a bit problematic in the beginning bcos I forgot my gmail password and got lost for a while, but managed to get back on track thanks to my beloved boys...Mel & Eldy. Thanks sweeties!

That just proved that you can learn about anything. Whoever said you can't teach old dogs new tricks didn't know what he was talking about. I don't mind being called an old dog at all just don't make it a female one.

Anyway, it feels good to accomplish something I thought I could never do it on my own. I nearly had to send an SOS to my baby girl in Sydney. I didn't need to afterall , haha!

Gosh...that feels GREAT!

ABOUT HARISON YUSOFF

Harison is communications specialist with more than 28 years of cummulative experience in learning and development, communication and PR. She has a Degree in Science, a Diploma in PR & Communications and a Masters in Managerial Psychology.

Harison has also authored/co authored a number of articles for local and international publications.

Harison is currently a Learning Manager at the PETRONAS Leadership Centre (PLC) in Kuala Lumpur. She is Program Leader for the PLC's Leadership Communication Series and is involved in the role of designing, developing and delivering programs at the centre. Harison joined the Learning Centre in 2008 after a two-year tenure at the Group Corporate Affairs Departnment (GCAD).

At GCAD, her responsibilities involved enhancing corporate reputation through community events, as well as networking and collaborating with key stakeholders. As leader of a special corporate social responsibility (CSR) program called “Program Bakti Pendidikan PETRONAS” or PBPP, she created tremendous awareness on the importance of sustaining the program. In September 2008, PBPP won the International Platt’s Award for CSR.

Harison joined PETRONAS by taking up the post of Head of PR at the Petrosains Discovery Centre in 1998. She put systems and processes for PR and communications in place to help position Petrosains as a world class science discovery centre. Today, Petrosains prides itself as a significant PETRONAS contribution to the nation. Petrosains is also renowned among international networks of science centres – Asia Pacific Network of Science Centers (ASPAC) and New York - based, Association of Science & Technology Centers (ASTC).

From 1996 – 1998, as Corporate Communications Manager at Silicon Communications, a company involved in IT Businesses, ranging from IT Solutions to Internet Security, Harison created a framework for PR & media and successfully established contacts with local and international media both through electronic and traditional publications.

After ten years of teaching, Harison joined the corporate world in 1993. She served in several companies, learning the ropes of PR and built competencies to excel in her chosen career - PR and Communications and began to carve a niche in the field of communications.

Harison’s passion is to help individuals and teams define their purpose and ultimately develop and realize their potential. She believes that anyone can be helped to change for the better if we can communicate in a compelling manner and make them realize how important it is to change.

Harison is married to Marketing Consultant, Amerizal Ganivaldi Djafar. They have two children, Shaheera, an aspiring entrepreneur and Shazmeer, who has yet to decide on his vocation, but will definitely excel in whatever he chooses to do, InshaAllah.
